ABSENCE FROM FELICITY: THE STORY OF HELEN SCHUCMAN AND HER SCRIBING OF A COURSE IN MIRACLES
I feel this is almost essential reading for those wanting a better understanding of how ACIM came to be. It’s actually quite a remarkable feat of authorship on Ken Wapnick’s part, as usual. One thing I got from it: The author makes the point that while Helen clearly was quite resistant to God and Jesus in many ways, and likewise with scribing the Course, she did consider the Course her life’s work and had a very motherly, propietary attitude to it. Some have said that Helen denounced/renounced ACIM at the end of her life, but it seems that it was more that her ego came to the fore as her body deteriorated. Ken makes it a point to say that yes, she did kind of go crazy there at the end, Helen was at peace when she passed.
